I tried something new this year. I set up a backdrop and my studio lights at a space at 3 Rivers Comicon and offered to take photos of cosplayers at a very reasonable price. I also offered to composite their images onto a new background with added effects for an additional charge, which I would complete at a later date. I love the cosplay community and what it stands for, and was looking for a new way to connect with them besides through my Facebook page or Instagram. This turned out to be a lot of fun. I was able to meet some new faces and create some cool composites for people that normally only walk away from cons with shots of them in their costume with the busy convention as their background.
I also met a few folks from the 501st Legion & Rebel Legion - a group of cosplayers that volunteer to go to events dressed as very screen accurate Star Wars characters. The local chapters in Pennsylvania are Garrison Carida (the bad guys) & Ghost Base (the good guys). I learned a lot & am considering joining myself someday!
